Barbara Hitzemann has always had a passion for fiber art. Starting on a floor loom, Barbara explored weaving with fabric and paper. In 2004 she joined the Damascus Fiber Arts School and fell in love with tapestry weaving.
Barbara finds It thrilling to weave pictures and she loves the convenience of the mobile loom. Her imagery is drawn from her garden and immediate surroundings. Barbara uses flowers, grass and local scenes to capture and document a moment in time.
Barbara’s other interests include spinning wool, using natural dyes and Art History. She has given classes in Natural Dyeing and has a full spectrum sample of her hand-dyed colors.
